The launch of NBA 2K22 sees the return of the popular MyTeam mode. Unlike building a normal franchise, MyTeam is constructed through player cards. It doesn’t matter if the player is currently playing for the Orlando Magic or part of the 1996 Chicago Bulls, anyone is on the table in MyTeam.

When starting out, you’ll pick one star to build around. As you receive more cards, you’ll begin to fill out your lineup. Building Around A Star

The first big decision in NBA 2K22’s MyTeam is deciding who you want to build your team around. You’ll have the option between five players rated 80 overall:

• Jayson Tatum
• Nikola Jokic
• Trae Young
• Zion Williamson
• Donovan Mitchell

Each of them will have evolutionary capabilities to improve the ratings based on completing specific tasks, like the number of points scored with the player to increase their attributes. It's advised to select either Young or Jokic, as the pair are exceptionally gifted at making plays on offense and shooting lights out.

Once you’ve decided on which player to build around, you’ll receive a number of other cards in the starter kit to fill out the team. These will include a head coach, jerseys, court, various injury cards, and contracts. Some players will forever remain on your team, while others can only be used for a given time frame. Contracts are used to extend the allotted time for a card, allowing more use of the player.

There are two modes to choose from: singleplayer and multiplayer. Triple Threat is similar to the pick-up games found throughout The City with other players on the 2K servers, with the difference being it’s offline. Here, you’ll select your five best players to take on any team in the NBA for a more realistic five-on-five contest. Challenges get updated weekly for more ways to earn rewards and Freestyle is a practice area to hone your skills.

In multiplayer, you can test your basketball skills and drafting ability in Draft, as you select five players to face off against other teams in a league format. This mode offers five-on-five games with the opportunity to win tons of guaranteed prizes to further improve your MyTeam. Triple Threat The 100 follows the same three-on-three format in single-player but adds a slight twist. On top of beating your opponent, you’ll also want to limit their scoring output. The fewer amount of points you surrender, the better prizes you’ll win. Unlimited offers five-on-five contests of your best players and Limited has unique rules that change every weekend to keep the five-on-five games fresh.

Card Management

The majority of prizes won in MyTeam will be singular cards or card packs. Besides obtaining packs throughout the game, you can choose to purchase them in the Pack Market. Additional prizes are also found in the Season Agendas, Lifetime Agendas, and Dynamic Goals. You’ll find even more tasks to be completed in each mode or with specific players to earn more experience points and prizes.
