Though MyTeam is fun, it still has plenty of pitfalls and traps newer players must look out for when diving in for the first time. A smart consumer is a prepared consumer, and going in with a bit of knowledge can make MyTeam a much more enjoyable experience.

8 Solo Vs. Multiplayer

Choice is the most important aspect of sports simulation games, as users should be provided with various ways to experience the sport they love. In MyTeam it comes down to whether you want to build experience in online or solo modes.

They both have their own set of challenges and goals, and it depends on if you want to deal with everything that comes with playing other people online, or if you want to put in the work against various levels of difficulty in regards to the CPU teams you can face.

Domination is a mode inside of MyTeam that allows you to challenge classic and modern NBA teams at varying difficulties. This year in NBA 2K22 they made it so you're guaranteed to receive a player from that team as a reward if you beat the team on the highest difficulty.

Not only does Domination allow you to earn coins and MT coin currency, but it also provides player cards and a space you can complete goals in.

Whether it's MyCareer mode or MyTeam, NBA 2K22 wants you to stay in the game for as long as you can. It offers plenty of different challenges and quests that serve as bread crumbs, meant to lead you to the more involved experiences.

The game can feel unnecessarily bloated at times, but for those who simply want more to do in the game they just spent money on, NBA 2K22 does a good job at always having a carrot on the end of the stick. Whether that stick is worth chasing is up to you at the end of the day.

Go into MyTeam with the purpose of building teams and/or players you enjoy playing with and the rest will fall into place. There's no fun in having a high overall team that you just don't have fun using.

2 Card Grading

The MyTeam mode is 2K's way of matching the Ultimate Team experience Electronic Arts delivers on their sports franchises. A big addition this year in NBA 2K22 is that you can get your cards graded, which aligns with the sports card collecting boom happening in real life.

Cards can earn a grade from one to ten, and the higher the grade of the card is, the more MT coins you'll earn when that player is in your lineup. Of course, grading comes at a cost, but it is a neat addition to the mode.

1 Beware Of The Microtransactions

NBA 2K has evolved in many ways over the last half-decade, and many of its fans would argue it's been for the worse. In NBA 2K22, it continues the trend of the game looking to nickel and dime you at every turn. Sure, the VC and MT coins can be earned in-game, but at such a slow rate that it purposely tempts you to spend real money, so you don't feel like you're playing catch up.

Understand that, despite spending $60+ on the game, it will look to get much more out of you, the more you play it. The point of microtransactions is to make it seem as though you're the one getting the most out of the transaction. Remember that.
