As my name suggest, am I noob?
I hold down power + volume up , and my switch normally boot, each time.
First, I tried the paper clip method and was failing. I switched to a 3d printed jig and still failed. I switched to hardware mode (I soldered the two pins in my joycon - Good solder joint, iv'e been soldering stuff for age) still failing!
Am I missing something? I'm lost!

You're not holding vol +/- at the same time, or you're not actually touching the correct pins with the solder or paper clip. I normally short pins 9&10 or 7&10 with a paper clip. Be sure you're doing it on the right joycon side.

No I am not, only volume +. Cause if I hold both, I go into maintenance mode (Where I can initialize console). I am indeed using the orange (right) joycon!

What I normally do, I use what I made from my Tutorial, Hold down Vol + and plug in the USB to my Switch and it works, A black screen ready for a payload.

Do I need to install something on the pc, actually? Or the black screen is supposed to happen no matter what?

It's meant to be a black screen, meaning it's in RCM mode, all you need now is to use something to run a payload, like tegrarcmsmash

Yes, it was showing nintendo logo. Always. But.
For some witchcraft reason, I just figured it out. My Nintendo switch will go in RCM mode ONLY if not plugged via usb..
I just tried to enter rcm but forgot to plug it first, screen stayed black, and when I plugged it, it was in rcm mode. I re-tried to enter rcm mode while plugged, no success. Tried again while unplugged, worked. So either I have bad luck, or my switch have something wrong going on.

RCM without a payload is a blank screen . You won't see the Nintendo logo flash. You'll know you're in RCM if you tap the power button because it doesn't do anything (if it was turned off, a tap on the power button would boot it to the Nintendo logo screen before booting the OS)
Use a safety pin and just touch the right pin (the posterior most on the right rail) and press the button combo (press and hold vol up first, then tap the power button) and you should get a blank screen that doesn't respond to tapping the power button. You'll need to hold the power button (about 5 sec) to turn the console off from RCM.

if you are using a windows pc try holding the + volume up then plug in the USB into the switch if your pc makes a sound you'll know that it's in rcm mode

It's the vol+ I'm % about it that's what I using the Nintendo switch is using a chip that was made for mostly Android devices and most android device use the volume up if you use that and you don't here this sound on your PC that's mean mean you didn't get into rcm mode and something maybe wrong with the jig that you using or bad joycon mod if that's what your using

I'm always able to enter with or without USB connected, so it still sounds like there's something odd going on.

So much misinformation here.
RCM:
-Pin 10 on the rail/joycon needs to be grounded.
- Hold volume + and power
If it boots into RCM nothing happens, no backlight nothing. If u just press power it will boot normal.
USB does not need to be connected, that is only for when you execute a payload.
Do you have any pics of your setup?

I guess when you connect USB it will start charging the console and that will make it turn ON.
